That will find its way out through the hose and into your gun. Eventually you will get rust in your gun even with an oiler attached - even more so if the gun is used sporadically. The filter removes a lot of that condensation. It is a good idea to drain your tank every so often as well and you'll be surprised how much water comes out. I used to drain my tank every couple of days if we were using our framing guns on a job and I'd always get a cup or two of water ( and a bit of sludge and oil ) out of it. Stewie Re: Air Stapler 3Sep 03, 2016 8:28 am G'day Stewie, Thank you for your reply. So if I continue draining the tank, I do not need to add the filter? Is that correct? Cheers Perry Re: Air Stapler 4Sep 03, 2016 2:05 pm Perry the Pom G'day Stewie, Thank you for your reply. So if I continue draining the tank, I do not need to add the filter? Is that correct? Cheers Perry You could get away without one but you will probably risk parts of your stapler rusting out prematurely. My comment above was more along the lines of "as well as having a filter - drain the tank regularly as well " not instead of. Stewie Re: Air Stapler 5Sep 03, 2016 11:45 pm I must say I use my air compressor very infrequently now with the advent of battery and gas guns, but when i did I think I drained my tank no more than 3 times in 20 years. My old senco framing gun and T nailer are still working the last time I used them.I never used a filter. Re: Air Stapler 6Sep 04, 2016 6:22 am G'day Oldchippy, I took Stewie's advice and went to Bunnings to purchase a filter. The sales assistant was a chippy for over 20 years. He said the same as you. He had never had a filter and never had a problem. The Filter & Gaige are not cheap so I am not going to bother. None of the compressors are sold with them. It is up to the buyer, most do not bother. The money I saved by not buying the filter I will go back to Bunnings and buy a Fathers Day present for myself !!!!!!!! Cheers Perry Well, my advice come under " recommended practice " and was what I was told when I bought my nailguns and compressor a long time ago. We always used a regulator for the pressure and a separate filter to keep water out. Even more so if I used the compressor for spraying thinners or oil based paints. Stewie Re: Air Stapler 8Sep 07, 2016 1:13 pm G'day Stewie, At the moment I only have the Stapler. If I purchase any more Pressure Tools I might invest in a Filter. Cheers Perry How do you remove one of these ceiling air con vents? And is it possible to disconnect the duct joined to the vent from inside the house, without going into the roof cavity? 0 5944 Hi all, sorting out the ducted air con for a 350sqm double story house.
