Hi all,
How easy is it to alter the roofline when you replace a roof? In our case our current roof is tin and will be replaced by Colorbond. There are two particular changes I'd like to make.
At the front of the house on the righthand side there is a low, flat roof over the porch. Half of this low bit extends inside into our dining room (which used to be an external porch, the existing porch is a later addition), so the dining room ceiling is quite low. The rest of the ceilings are 270cm so it a big difference. I have no idea what configuration would be needed but any ideas if raise this roofline would be very difficult?

The second bit I'd like to change is at the rear of the house, where another external porch was built in and also has a really low ceiling inside. In the pic below it's in where left side of the gable dips down. The window next to the antenna is the room with the low ceiling. Ideally this would be raised too, without losing the gable.

Would a roofer work in conjunction with a builder to build the new roof trusses etc? Or can roofers normally do it all And would I need a set of plans drawn up and approved by council as the roof like is being altered?
