Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 15, 2006 10:49 pm Does anyone have any information or experience of systems available for the recycling of domestic grey water.
It makes sense in the current environmental climate to investigate the possibilities while building. PDU Re: Grey water recycling 2Nov 16, 2006 8:41 am PDU, good on you.
I can foresee the time when grey water use will be incorporated in all new homes and government bodies will be paying out large subsidies for people to do so. It wasn't so long ago that it was illegal to install rainwater tanks in many metroplitan areas across Aus. There is a heap of info available online - S.A's dep't of health have info sheets from memory. Unfortunately for you S.A. is [ or at least was ] treading very lightly on this subject, even to the point where you may have thought they were hoping it might go away if they ignored it. - that may be unfair & maybe it was just the particular person I was talking to who was citing health regs & the illegality of tampering with the sewer systems - Anyway they used to require a permit to be taken out for a divertor to be installed & a soil test to be undertaken. This may have altered recently & others may have better info. Peter Clarkson - AusDesign Australia www.ausdesign.com.au This information is intended to provide general information only. It does not purport to be a comprehensive advice. Re: Grey water recycling 3Nov 23, 2006 1:34 pm Regarding grey water, it needs to be viewed as either "diversion" which a lot of companies specialise in. This water obviously is untreated.
If you are interested in treated grey water check out www.newwater.com.au and look at their AQUA REVIVA system. Good luck! I have been in touch with a NSW based company http://www.nubian.com.au/ whose system looks the most aesthetically pleasing and easiest to install without too much disruption. However, they tell me that they do not yet have South Australian accreditation which could take some time. My tentative enquiries with the appropriate authorities does not bode well for my plans. Looks like the usual red tape caused by politicians media spin and unwillingness to move off their fat arses to actually do something for the environment. Approval could take a long time. Will keep you posted. Re: Grey water recycling 6Mar 16, 2007 9:00 pm Thanks for this post PDU, I know it is a few months on, but since reading this I have been looking around at what is out there.
I thought that others may benefit from a list of links to companies that I have found (some already mentioned).
