Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 25, 2016 5:29 pm Hi All I have a question regarding overlooking regulations (VIC). We are in the progress of building with Carlisle Homes and are close to completion. Our neighbours recently started building (about 2.5 months after we started), and I noticed recently installed are windows to one side of their house overlook into our master bedroom, balcony and ensuite area. I'm quite concerned because our windows are quite low, and would affect the privacy of this area of the house. My question is, are they allowed to have clear windows overlooking our master bedroom (i.e. a habitable area), and are we protected in any way? We would have received our permit to build well before they did. Who do I need to contact - their builder, or council? Thanks so much for any advice. Re: Overlooking Window Regulations - VIC 2Jul 25, 2016 5:43 pm Ask your builder for the regulations for your area. Generally overlooking applies, but some growth areas are exempt. I'm not entirely sure this is correct though as I have also been told it depends on who has a certificate of occupancy first! Best bet is to contact your local council! If you don't want to annoy the neighbours then simply get yourself some good head phones. For me the sound is much better using headphones.
