Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 10, 2016 1:33 pm Hi all. Admins please move this post if it is in the wrong area. I am not sure which area to ask this question. Will try and keep this short. I am a beginner when it comes to construction and DIY, etc but can pick up things quickly and follow instructions. Ok... I am use to sleeping on hard floors; either on very thin yoga matting or carpet. The hard flooring I find ever so comfortable and it has helped my back tremendously. Now, I moved into my own home and have fitted it out with furniture. I bought a bed frame which has wooden slats that run length-ways. However, I don't find mattresses comfortable, even the firm ones. So what I want to do is add some sort of solid wood board on top of the slats OR in place of the slats [the frame has 4 metal slats that run width-ways]. I know that I need a wood board that is: - Sturdy and durable. - Cut to 1530W x 2030L [Queen mattress size]. I don't know where to start looking for this wood or, more importantly, what wood is best. I have looked at Bunnings and Masters but they seem to have set dimensions for wood boarding and don't seem to do custom cuts? Which wood would be best; sturdy and durable? Where can I get this wood board cut to size and, hopefully also, includes delivery? Any help or advice on this small DIY would be greatly appreciated. Re: Help. Want to put a wood board on a bed. 2Jul 10, 2016 11:27 pm Hi You will be able to get something from Bunnings. Perhaps use two pieces of mdf or plywood cut to size so each piece is half the width of the bed - or place them horizontally if that works better for you. MDF is available in 2700 x 1200mm, so buy two and cut each to half the width of the bed and its exact length. Bunnings will cut these materials to width and length, just provide measurements. Re: Help. Want to put a wood board on a bed. 5Jul 12, 2016 7:32 am At my Bunnings first two cuts are free, then about a dollar each. Very reasonable! It used to be free, but they recently changed this because of people asking them to do about 30 very specific cuts, holding up other customers. Thanks for clarifying. Sorry I misunderstood your point 7 6974 I would be wary. Is you site demilished but nothing else done? Sounds like liquidity problems to me. Our builder did the same. If it's part of a normal subdivision it would have had a contamination report done… 9 5645 |
