Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 19, 2016 6:55 pm Just wondering, would we be able to put a gate in our back fence, or would that need council approval first? There are no neighbours at the back as the land backs on to a dry creek bed/treed area just thought it would be great to open up more play area for the kids as the land is only 300sqm If council approval is needed, would that be something they are likely to reject? Re: Can you put a gate in your back fence? 4Jun 20, 2016 5:03 pm If you try and spot a council for any costs in relation to the boundary fence, they will absolve themselves from any responsibility or contribution to it. So when sharing a boundary with state owned land, the fence is totally yours, 100%. So it is None of councils business, do what you like. Id be putting a lock on it though, to avoid weirdos, drunks, etc stumbling in from the other side.
