Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 10, 2016 10:31 pm Hi, I was hoping someone could assist with the following retaining wall query: We have a block of land in Brisbane that was bought off the plan. Our new neighbours block on one side (also still to be built on) is approx 0.9m higher than our block and the slope contours/batters shows on their lot plan. This fact, according to the land sales guy we dealt with when purchasing the land, means the retaining wall cost responsibility falls to our neighbours. However, on the same side boundary we have a build to boundary relaxation and were planning on positioning our house 1.25m from the boundary, which then requires the retaining wall to be fully certified as it's less than 1.5m from our house. So my question is, does the fact we've decided on this position for our house then mean we're responsible for the retaining wall cost & certification or does it still lie with our neighbours? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Hobbes Getting the permit for your wall because it's going to be pretty tall in some places isn't too hard, but it does mean you have to do a bit more work.
