Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 16, 2016 5:00 pm Has anyone had any problems with concrete roof tiles losing their water-based colour coating? Our tiles are pitting through and exposing the concrete substrate with the colour coating peeling back around the hole pitting. Any information would be very welcome - should the tiles be replaced under warranty - or would a water-based recoat be enough? We do wonder if there was an adhesion problem between the coating and the substrate in the first place and if this would only happen again if we were to do a further recoat through the tile manufacturer. Re: Defective Roof Tiles 3May 17, 2016 2:32 pm Tiles now 7 years old Stewie, but coating failure was noticed at just on 3 years - it has been a long ongoing battle! Outcome is still only a recoat without any cause for the delamination being provided to us. There's no guarantee a recoat won't delaminate as well if there is a problem with adhesion of the coating or a problem with the substrate. I'm unsure of how to post a photograph at this stage! I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this. As for the unscheduled site visits, most builders are quite… 1 28290 |
