Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 01, 2016 9:47 pm Would you reckon a nook / study of 2.8m long x 1.8m wide be too small? On the 1.8m wide there will also be a 820mm door. Re: Computer nook / Study size 2May 01, 2016 9:57 pm Got a floor plan - would help so see where it's going Computer nook / Study size 5May 01, 2016 11:27 pm Personal opinion is that it could get quite small in there with a desk, chair and a door. I'd see if you really think a door is what you want there (assuming you have a desk and chair planned) and how often you'd have it closed for such a small space. Edit: And by that I mean I'd consider simply leaving it as an opening rather than putting a door on it. Re: Computer nook / Study size 9May 02, 2016 9:39 am We had a study of that size in our old place, and it worked fine as a study. It had a 600mm deep L - shaped desk, with the computer in the corner. It was a reasonable working area for one person, similar to an office cubicle. Re: Computer nook / Study size 10May 03, 2016 11:10 am I find that in todays society there is no need for a study in a house as most electronics are portable and you can access them wirelessly. The accumulate alot of clutter I have found. I would personally make your walk in dressing room bigger and ditch your study. 90% of people always say they have no room for all your clothes. True but I work in IT and need the separate area to work even if small. The dressing room is not that big but will have a separate sliding robe in the master dedicated to those clothes used once in a while (winter clothes, etc that take the most space) The study will then become a 2.8 x 1.8 instead of the current 3.2 x 1.8 Re: Computer nook / Study size 13May 04, 2016 7:16 pm Beazley77 If it's a "nook" it's big. If it's a study I think a bit small Lol i guess it will be a mixture though. As long as I can fit 1 computer and 1 tablet in there I will be happy! I have requested for a sliding door as space is already lacking. Re: Computer nook / Study size 14May 05, 2016 8:14 am My current study is a similar size and works perfectly. We'll be having the same size again in our new place. Definitely go a sliding door to save space but no door is annoying as you can't close it off if you have papers and crap everywhere! But the entry is a little narrower than the "inside" of the nook. We both actually really surprised by how much room there was inside.
