Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 12, 2006 4:31 pm I have a **** house in Adelaide built in 1950.
I have bricked up a doorway and need to plaster over the bricks. I have heard the right plaster for this job is put on smooth and doesn't require any sanding. Is this true? If so what type of plaster is this and how do I go about doing the job? My aim is to hide the fact that there was ever a doorway there. The only patching I have ever done is with base coat and top coat which was hard to get level and needed a lot of sanding to get it smooth. Chris. Render over bricks. I have bricked up the opening, and rendered over that, now I need to do my final coat of plaster. How do I do this? Chris. Re: Plastering a brick wall 4Nov 17, 2006 9:39 pm Sorry Chris, I can’t help you with this.
I thought you just painted over the render, I didn’t realise you had to plaster as well. Hopefully one of the guys will help you. Sorry! IF you wanted a 'gyprock' finish, you could have just battened the wall and gyprocked it. If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8289 can’t tell from the photo, a tie down rod will be 12mm, is it a steel beam? he should be able to work it out 1 4445 Thank you alexp79 and gommeqld for your advice, that's very helpful, thanks 3 7902 |
