Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 01, 2016 3:28 pm Several months ago we had our aggregate poured and when it came time to hone the alfresco, while trying to do there best job (i was overseas at the time) cement residue ended up on the texture coat render. While leaving it for a long period of time has made the situation worse i was hoping there was a something i could use to clear it up off the render. Thanks for your advice Mike Re: Aggregate on render 2May 01, 2016 4:10 pm Hi Mike. Did the guys handling the honing, acid clean the job after the honing and before sealing it. Typically it gets acid cleaned and high pressure washed. This would clean up any powdered concrete that ended up on the walls after the honing. If you use an acid wash it would remove any residue left on the walls. Just keep water running over the concrete to prevent it being affected. Re: Aggregate on render 3May 01, 2016 4:47 pm Hi mate thanks for your reply. After it was done someone seperate came out to acid wash and try to seal the concrete, however after the acid washing and sealing was done there was still moisture getting into the concrete so polietly asked them to leave the sealing as they could not understand why after two coats moisutre was stilling getting into the concrete. I am waiting for summer to get the concrete cleaned a sealed again, fingers crossed. They told me they didnt want to acid wash the render to much incase it damaged it ?? I am wanting to try to clean the residue off the walls, would a ratio of 1lt acid to 10 ltrs water be safe enough ? I did try a 1:1 of vinegar and water and scrubbing brush to no avail. I am going to now try 1:10 of the hydrochloric next. If that doesn't work i will see an appropriate paint type finish to paint the render. I will also watch your thread. I have the acid and was going to tackle the render again during the coming week. I will be wetting my render before applying the 1:10 solution and scrubbing brush and then rinse off with plenty of fresh water. Re: Aggregate on render 5May 01, 2016 8:03 pm Hi Goody, I was going to try vinegar as an acid but I am thinking a mixture of hydro acid mixed with some soap, brush and high pressure cleaner. The cement on mine isn't to thick cause I can break it off with my nail. Maybe even try 500ml of acid first as a starting point ? I am having trouble getting advice on exactly what to do via posting on here or via google search on the topic. I will give this process a wirl this week and post results.
