Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 01, 2016 1:49 pm Hey guys, Came across something that I wasn't aware before. Something called glazed bricks. Has anyone seen and used it before?? Is it really worth it as the cost for glazed bricks is significant compared to normal bricks?? I came across this photo. http://australbricks.com.au/nsw/product/burlesque/ Also we are tilting towards grey or black colored bricks as our facade is going to have brick work and some rendering to piers, balcony etc. The whole point is to create contrast with light colored rendering and dark colored brickwork. Can anyone advise on this idea about if it would look nice and appealing. thanks, Looking to build a home in VIC. Land titled in November 2017. Construction started in February 2018. Double storey 37sq. Re: Anyone with glazed bricks? 2May 20, 2016 8:00 pm Glazed bricks are nice and have been around since the 1920's, with the salt glazed terracotta bricks used in the Art Deco/P&O style homes as feature banding to rope bricks or soldier courses around pressed reds. Austral bought the old Euroa Bricks business and now sell them as Burlesque but you can also get another range from PGH as an alternative. http://www.pghbricks.com.au/products/bricks?hs=true Remember that glazed bricks are like tiles. If you chip them the colour veneer cannot be reinstated by companies like Nawkaw. Personally my favorite colour veneer brick with a shiny face is the PGH Blue Steel Flash brick http://www.pghbricks.com.au/products/br ... teel-flash It has a metallic blue shine but the colour veneer is baked into the clay making the surface unbelievably tough and capable of handling almost anything thrown at it. Because of this it can be laid and cleaned like a normal brick where all full glazed bricks must be laid perfectly clean and NOT pressure washed. Good luck with your build Being a builder is more than just having once held a hammer. It's about the trades you hire and ensuring that they give a result that meets the industry standard and the home owners expectations. Re: Anyone with glazed bricks? 3May 21, 2016 4:45 pm Blue Steel Flash is my favourite brick And I love glazed bricks - I think of all the lovely old Sydney inner western suburbs homes where I used to live that had Federation verandas and front walls made of those dark cherry/chocolate coloured glazed bricks. Yum. I think light and dark contrasts look fantastic. That's what we did on our house. Light bricks with offwhite mortar and dark 'aubergine' bricks on the porch/balcony. I wanted Blue Steel Flash as the dark contrast but was a bit too pricey. Anyway I love the contrast - it looks great. I’m in a similar position except I’m after sliding 3 stacking doors. I am on a second-story apartment of which the balcony would not adequately fit any bi-fold or… 5 16146 I don't know them all, the first 2 top of your list are best known.
