I am just wondering which you personally think looks better… 1. Cool based colours on walls (fresh whites for trimmings and ceiling, slightly pinkish toned stone/pebble/cream shade on main walls, and a cool light brown/fawn shade for a feature wall), a pale mushroom type colour carpet (also cool coloured), combined with dark wood furniture (really dark stain), dark tinted glass furniture, pale icy blue with white swirls (jacquard fabric) sofas, sandstone and clear glass coffee table, and some white pieces of furniture too. The kitchen is white (cupboards) and a pinky-peach colour (bench tops and floor tiles). OR!!!! 2. The same kitchen and furniture as above, BUT with warm based colours on walls (still fresh whites for trimmings and ceiling, but the main walls would be a more very slightly yellow-based pale stone colour – like ½ Hogs Bristle for example – and the feature wall is a more yellow based pale brown/fawn, and the carpet is a pale biscuit colour, also yellow based. None of these are YELLOW of course, but it’s just the very slight undertone to the overall colour. Which walls/carpet choice would better suit the furniture and kitchen colours? Thank ye! Michelle!? lol 3Jul 29, 2008 3:05 pm Seriously Grace, I think the cool may make it seem a bit more spacious and the warm more cosy.
I've just noticed in a lot of decorating mags, they use really cool crisp shades in small spaces and I like the look. I'm guessing it's for the feeling of space. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Warm or Cool colours for my apartment? Michelle!? lol 4Jul 29, 2008 4:30 pm grace_slick 1. So I’m confused at what you are trying to achieve???? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Warm or Cool colours for my apartment? I thought that pink/mauve-based shades were cool colours and yellow/brown-based shades were warm. See? This is why I'm asking you, as I clearly have no idea what I'm doing! What IS a cool colour then?? How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Re: Warm or Cool colours for my apartment? Michelle!? lol 6Jul 29, 2008 5:04 pm Pink is derived from brown, which is a warm colour.
Purple IS a cooler colour, I’ll have a look later for you Where do you want the cool colours to be predominantly? Walls????? I want basically all warm or all cool. The paint colour that I'm mostly concerned about will be on all walls. The ceilings & skirtings/trimmings will be white so that's fairly easy. The carpet has to match the wall paint in terms of the same type of colour (warm or cool). The carpet will be a darker version of the wall colours. How the hell did I become a senior member!? Grace….since you live on the Gold Coast, to me a very hot spot. Why don’t you do everything in white! That just leaves all you’re furnishing to pick up colour! For an apartment this is a good colour, clean, crisp, bright and cool! Perfect for QLD! Your carpets could be any colour you want with whit walls. Then you can use bright colours like reds, oranges, blues and teal greens for artwork around the apartment….very swish!!!! I do tend to like all white, BUT in this case I don’t. It’s actually all white now, and it doesn’t look the best. It’s not a huge beach house or light and airy glass-filled deluxe apartment. It’s not tiny but it’s just 2 bedrooms etc, and right now the all white just looks drab and boring. We want different shades/levels of the same sort of colour. I love all white for larger more airy beach style places. (especially white walls with rounded archways and dark polished floorboards) How the hell did I become a senior member!? I know nothing! Head to a metal and decide on which profile you will use first. Profiles with larger corrugations can greatly change the appearance of the color in different… 0 2181 I'd get the gutters to match your roof and pipes to match the paint - otherwise they become a feature. Nice pick with the paint colours! 1 26135 |
