Hi everyone, I'm new here and wondering how many lights are normal to have in a house, how many lights do you have in the interior and exterior ? we are building, haven't started yet but are in the electrical planning stage and don't want to go overboard or not enough !! Please advise how many lights are normal in a 270 sqm of interior living space thanks

You might be better looking in the lighting sub forum or the building a new home and visiting somewhere like beacon for some advice lights are personal (i.e. Colour, strength, downlights or wall lights or lamps or work area lighting or feature lighting etc)

Building regs require a max of 5 watts per m2 internal & 4 watts per m2 external - if that helps.

It will depend on a number of factors including; room size and shape, height of ceilings, colour scheme, type of lamps & fitting, task areas and needs of the user. As a basic guide; below are the lumens required per Sq M (10.76 sq ft) for different room settings. In many cases a mixture of general and task lighting will be required.
Before to make serious decisions, we must have fresh mind. On my website you can find a good way to cool!
