Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 10, 2016 4:12 pm Hi Guys, Do you reckon a 820mm door in a powder room is too big? The ceiling are at 31c and the door is at 28c. The powder width is 1750x1200 (500mm vanity to the side running along the longer side) Re: Powder room door size 2Apr 10, 2016 7:00 pm In the first house that I built I made the door 720 wide and this worked fine. However in my last house (nearly 40 years later) I made the door 900 wide. (This will make it easier to use the bathroom when using a walking frame or wheel chair) so the answer to your question will depend on how old you are. Re: Powder room door size 5Apr 10, 2016 9:56 pm A wider door will be too close to the toilet, better go with a 720 door. Also the door will need to have lift off hinges or open outwards (building code requirement where a door opens onto a toilet). Can you make the room larger? Nope can't make it any larger , would the vanity be better suited in the middle? Powder room door size 7Apr 11, 2016 11:12 pm Nope bigger the better I think, especially if someone is ever injured and navigating on crutches etc I think there would be ample room to walk in, turn and close door without loo getting in your way Re: Powder room door size 8Apr 12, 2016 12:03 am Think i will reduce it to 720mm in the end, we have a 1.5m Long toilet here albeit 900 wide bit with a 620mm door, i sat down on the loo and tried to open the door and and it touched my leg for a good 5cm. (Not something generally happening but with 2 boys you never know!) a 1700mm toilet with a 820mm would eventually make it the same scenario, at least with a 720mm there should be a bit more leg room Re: Powder room door size 9Apr 12, 2016 2:25 am I am having standard width doors and 28c. How does a 720mm v 820mm give a bit more leg room. Surely you do number 2s with the door shut. go the wider door. Re: Powder room door size 10Apr 12, 2016 5:23 pm If you can carve out a long narrow space, a pocket door might also be an option if installed in the long wall. This would eliminate doorswing considerations, but I know some people don't like using pocket doors on bathrooms for noise/privacy reasons. Before to make serious decisions, we must have fresh mind. On my website you can find a good way to cool! Re: Powder room door size 12Apr 13, 2016 1:03 am Hi Just checked my powder room that is laid out as the first pic exactly and I have an 820mm door and the room is 1640mm by 1520mm with the door on the 1520mm side. I have a semi recessed basin as it adds a little to the space as the benchtop is narrower. The benchtop is 370mm deep. I think either way will work out with the full size door. Re: Powder room door size 13Apr 13, 2016 2:03 am Great! Just checked my working drawings and the powder is 1600mm wide x 1750mm long so 820mm door it is Looking at some of the designs on websites, they are all selling very similar products. I get that you want something stylish. It's worth looking for search terms like SaveH2O… 2 4600 Current door width is approx 2700, looking to have double doors fitted 820-820. What size does the frame need to be before door jamb? Thanks 0 2328 |
