Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 08, 2016 5:45 pm Hi all, In a bit of awkward situation here. I'm currently at lock up stage of my new build in Piara Waters Perth. I chose this door called Stratton http://imgur.com/k1d6jUA from M&B sales (building with HGWA). I thought it looks alright during pre-start, but I now find the pattern too overwhelming and dated when both put together side by side. Any idea what to do with current doors if I were to change my doors? It's not painted yet or anything? I don't think I will go through builder for a new doors, might just buy directly from the supplier. Any suggestion how to move forward? Thanks! Re: Regretted with front double doors...how? 4Apr 08, 2016 10:30 pm Joker Just say you will organize new doors and take care of doors on at the moment, then sell doors. I would think this can only happen after handover? Also who would possibly buy door? lol Re: Regretted with front double doors...how? 5Apr 08, 2016 10:32 pm Beazley77 I think it'll cost you to make a variation to change and be pretty pricey but if the facade of your Josue is modern then modern doors would possibly look better Yea, my house is generally modern looking at the front, just didn't think the pattern would stand up so much..just a bit too different to the rest of the houses around lol.. Re: Regretted with front double doors...how? 6Apr 08, 2016 10:37 pm Have you got a photo of the front of your house with the doors? Regretted with front double doors...how? 8Apr 09, 2016 8:24 am Lol about the whinging. It's worth asking your SS about changing. You might be able to work something out with him eg you supply new ones and he might get the trades to hang for no charge and still get painted same as they would have been. You can put the door on Gumtree (easier to sell if not painted) or maybe use for dealing with the re-hang ... Offer that they keep. Re: Regretted with front double doors...how? 9Apr 09, 2016 10:55 am If there already hung and locks fitted,I would just leave it, and at a later stage get a local carpenter to install new doors of your choice. He would probably re use the same lock and hinges.I think the existing doors would be valueless. You may be able to get a variation deduction for not painting but would be minimal. Fitting and hanging, installing a lock and flush bolts on the inactive leaf on heavy entrance doors is not a 5 minute job. . Re: Regretted with front double doors...how? 10Apr 09, 2016 11:53 am If already installed, just leave it. You might find that you grow to like it. The paint colour will make a difference to how it looks. It's only a door! If not installed, then see if the builder will swap for one you like. Re: Regretted with front double doors...how? 12Apr 10, 2016 8:22 am I guess it comes down to $$$ If it were me and I had the money, I would choose a more modern door and ask the carpenter if he would replace them. As suggested sell your current doors on eBay or gumtree. Ok you won't get what you paid but they certainly aren't worthless. I don't know them all, the first 2 top of your list are best known.
