Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 06, 2016 2:13 pm My home renovation project is almost finished. It was a major home reno that required the hire of a general contractor. A particular situation is really annoying me. I am wondering what you think. At the beginning of the home renovation project, the contractor removed the ceiling chandelier in the dinning room and two ceiling fans in two other room to avoid having them damaged during the project. I was expecting the contractor to put them back up at the end of the project. When I called him on the work, he told me that he could reinstall them at a cost. I told him I did not ask him to remove them and they should be put back up at no extra cost. Its common courtesy : you take them down, you put them back up. He refused to do it saying it was not in the contract. Am I completely nuts to ask him to put the light fixture and fans back up? Is this common practice? Please advise. Thanks Re: Contractor's Bad Service or Simply Common Practice? 2Apr 06, 2016 2:56 pm You are not nuts but your builder thinks you are, hence trying to get away with it. If your builder has removed a fixture for protection then he must replace it at the end of the job. Major reno, is your builder registered?
