Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 25, 2016 11:55 pm Received an update email from our builder late Thursday with this sentence: 'I have had to claim 4 wet weather days from the 14 days that are included in your contract. Please note this will not affect your final completion date.' I've had a quick read through our contract but still can't work out what it means. The first part sounds quite ominous. I have emailed back but don't expect to here anything until well after Easter because our CLO is pretty slack at returning emails. We have only just had siteworks completed. Meant to be done on the Friday but held off one day because of heavy rain. Rock breaker came in Wednesday or Thursday, as far as I am aware only one light shower of rain between Saturday and then. Re: Does Anyone Know What This Means? 3Mar 26, 2016 10:41 pm Piscean is right. . . . but I would add this is a very rare case of a builder doing the right thing in keeping you informed. here is a link to explanation of the contract period: http://anewhouse.com.au/2012/08/contrac ... ct-period/ The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! Re: Does Anyone Know What This Means? 4Mar 27, 2016 1:24 pm As per Piscean and Bashworth's comments, your builder is simply completing his administration work and when submitting his claim to you, he is stating what he is claiming. By the sounds of it, in his submission price for your tender he has allowed for 14 days as paid days due to the possibility of bad weather. The reason he would do this is so he can pay his workers/contractors for a day where they were inconvenienced by the weather. I would be looking into your contract and seeing how he has worded this section and the clauses within the contract to see if the amount allowed for the 14 days of bad weather is a provisional sum or something of the like. If so, depending on the contract, you could potentially be reimbursed the value of the remaining days unused at the end of the project. I had an old shower unit that broke on me and when I took it off, there were only 2 water pipes, instead of the normal 2 water pipes and a shower head pipe.
