I noticed some particle boards were used at some of our walls, are they strategically located?
Hope someone could provide some info. Thanks in advance for the replies.

Almost defeats the purpose of paying more for permit treated timber if its mixed? Re: Particle Boards at Frame Stage 4Mar 20, 2016 6:10 pm Thanks Stewie for the info. Hi radiuz, same thoughts here. But we were not charged extra for treated framing. I looked at the photos I've taken of the roof frames (which are yet to be put up) and not all are treated as well. All internal wall frames, external wall noggins and corner studs are treated pines, but external wall studs are normal. Will check with our SS tomorrow. skyler *o* Re: Particle Boards at Frame Stage 5Mar 21, 2016 6:45 am To add to Stewies comment. At the design stage every new home (or extension) is given a wind category allocation, relevant to its location. The amount of wall bracing required to resist racking forces from wind loads on the building is then determined by the designer & noted on the drawings that will be submitted as a part of the building application. In situations where short walls require bracing units, sheet bracing is used in lieu of metal bracing which, as Stewie mentioned, requires longer wall sections to be effective.
