Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 28, 2016 10:26 pm Hi everyone, hoping for any tips or experience on home relocation. We are outgrowing our bayside Melbourne property and have been crunching the numbers recently about renovate, rebuild or move. So far rebuild is the most cost effective option given our location, however we do love our cute little 50's weather board house (well maintained, great condition and very livable just too small for us). So one option I'm considering is buying block of land in the country and relocating the house. Pros are we end up with a holiday house with furniture, have somewhere to live during the build, don't have to pay storage for all our furniture etc during the build, no demolition costs. Cons, hoping you can tell me! Obviously the cost of relocating the house ($60k from research?), and council issues, potential asbestos. Are we just opening a can of worms? Seems like a great solution and maybe just too good to be true.... Anyone have any experience with this, would you do it again, any big things I'm missing? Thanks in advance, I'm new to this but learning a lot here!
