cavity wall insulation

I recall something about thermal coupling between the inner brick leaf and the slab that helped the performance of cavity brick construction. That may allow it to perform a bit better than what you would expect from the R value alone.
Boy am I glad I personally cleaned all crap from cavitys before they were closed in, , as I've seen many just close in walls with all sort of rubbish just left in.
