Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 19, 2016 9:23 pm We had hoped to build 590mm from our zero boundary and as our neighbour on that side has cut below the natural and needs a retaining wall as much as we do, had agreed to share costs. However council has refused our application for a relaxation to build closer to our other side boundary and want us to go back to a 200mm setback which means we are going to have to have a drop edge beam. Is our neighbour still liable to contribute towards this as I am assuming we will need a deeper beam since he has cut down? He has cut on his side by about a metre, we will be filling by not much at all. I'm sure my husband does on his phone but I haven't downloaded the photos off his for awhile so will do that tonight. Re: Can We Ask Our Neighbour For A Share of Our Drop Edge Be 7Feb 23, 2016 9:11 am From my rudimentary understanding of the plans, he has cut down 750mm and we are filling 250mm, but don't quote me on that. Natural groundlevel is about a 2/3rds of the way along our shared boundary.[img][URL=http://s411.photobucket.com/user/lmg121262/media/20160207_102825_zpsqkoedqu5.jpg.html][IMG] Re: Can We Ask Our Neighbour For A Share of Our Drop Edge Be 8Feb 26, 2016 5:56 pm Wow. Council have done a complete turn-around and approved our relaxation. Our builder was shocked when the paperwork arrived today as last Friday she received an email from them saying 'no'. Funny how after I spoke to council they changed their minds. Goes to show been polite, sympathetic to their point of view and expressing appreciation at the time they have taken for us, can work miracles. So its back to a retaining wall. Yay!
