Always provide drawings, details and specis on the extent of the work ..then there's no excuses ie, I didnt allow extra for that..that costs more? etc B Do a rough take off know the quantity of materials and check them on Site C Check labour constants, unit rates, find the optimum team size eg 2 Tradies to I labourer...then apply fair $/hr rates.. allow for some extras..know what you are up for as time means money! Great points, and if you can get fixed price lump sum options as well you know exactly what your costs will be. That said u can sometimes save a few dollars with cost plus work, but there is a lot of trust needed from both the consumer and the tradesmen for this option to work successfully, not to mention a lot of documentation.
