So frustrating as the house is at handover stage (has been for 3 weeks) and this is going to now be a long drawn out process. I still can't believe the supervisor, construction manager and concrete grinder can pass this off as acceptable??? I understand mistakes happen during builds but you have paid for something that you haven't recieved. Again, I can't stress how important it is to have proper specifications and engineering inspections and certificates. Usually in my experience the architect will have some words in there describing the finish of the concrete, what level of imperfections are acceptable etc... Also, what do you have in your contract regarding retention monies? You should have a portion of money (say 2.5-5% of the total contract sum) left unpaid at practical completion and you don't authorize these funds to be paid until all defects are resolved to your satisfaction.
