Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 28, 2016 7:15 pm The long awaited day has finally arrived and I don't know whether to be excited or nervous. Our Client Liaison Officer has warned it can be very stressful, probably more so for us because we're not quite on the same page when it comes to colours. We chose pendant lights and some tiles in 10 seconds after a pre-visit to the tile outlet and lighting store. But have mulled over external brick and flooring for a very long time before deciding. It's Colour Consultation Day Tommorrow: Yay! 2Jan 29, 2016 6:06 am It can be stressful, but most definitely very exciting at the same time. Who are you building with? The consultants generally have a good understanding of colours, what works and what doesn't. We already had a bit of an idea as to what look we wanted to achieve, the only negative was some of the upgrade prices. Don't be afraid to ask heaps of questions! I suggest visiting some display homes from the same builder you're going with to get some inspiration First Home Buyer | Livingstone 22 Tender accepted 9/10/15 | Contract signed 30/10/15 | Colours selected 29/03/16 Re: It's Colour Consultation Day Tommorrow: Yay! 3Jan 29, 2016 11:43 am WarpSpeed79 It can be stressful, but most definitely very exciting at the same time. We're building with Ausmar which is based on the Sunshine Coast in QLD. Re: It's Colour Consultation Day Tommorrow: Yay! 4Jan 29, 2016 5:43 pm We just had our colour appointment yesterday. It went well because our consultant is really good and helpful. As long as you have theme in mind, you will be fine. Yes, I also feel the same way before. I am very nervous but going to more display homes really helps. We are building with Mainvue and their colour information session help us choose because we already had list of upgrade prices including bricks Best of luck Mainvue Amalfi 530 - Our First build viewtopic.php?f=31&t=81745 Re: It's Colour Consultation Day Tommorrow: Yay! 5Jan 31, 2016 4:12 pm Unfortunatly our session didn't go as well as we hoped. Our consultant was based at the tiling outlet that supply the tiles so we had one consultant for the tiles and one for the company we're building with. The first thing that struck us was the terrible lighting in the room and the glass doors and windows were tinted so we had to keep taking samples outside because the colours were so distorted inside. They also had very few tile samples on display, they were all in cabinets behind doors so the consultant kept on bringing out what she thought was best, we couldn't go through them ourselves. There was also a major storm brewing and everytime we turned out backs our main consultant was on her phone checking her weather app and expressing concern about her child getting home from school before the storm hit. Our 4 hours ended up as only 3 as we felt so pressured into making decisions. I thought she might have some sort of computer programme that would allow us to see various colour combinations but no such luck. At the beginning of the session she told us a client would be coming in to briefly sign some papers. When she turned up she plonked herself at our table (covered with our bits and pieces) and started pulling papers out of her bag and asking our consultant questions while we had to stand around twiddling our thumbs. We also wanted a gloss white kitchen but that was 'glossed' over (there were no samples) and were pushed into a sheen. Because we couldn't properly see the tile samples we ended up telling them to forget about the kitchen splashback, we would provide that ourselves which later made me wild as that is a variation so extra expense out of our pockets. Later that night we looked at the samples they gave us to take home and went 'how the h..l did that happen', its not all all what we wanted'. We've ended up with a boring monotone house that nearly brings me to tears when I look at the colours. I'm going to contact her tommorrow and change half of it. Re: It's Colour Consultation Day Tommorrow: Yay! 6Jan 31, 2016 4:22 pm Sorry to hear it didn't go well for you, a wasted opportunity by them to help make your selection session fun and rewarding. Are you able to book a time to go back in and tell them you actually want to rethink whatever you're not happy with, or start again? Better that extra time than just go with something you're less than thrilled with. It's so annoying when the consultant or salesperson is more focussed on other things besides the customer who is ready to spend their money at the store. I've not long sent her an extensive email expressing our displeasure at some of the choices and asking to come in asap and reselect the vanity top colours. The rest I was able to list in the email but we have decided to stick with doing our own splashback. My husband is quite artistic as well as been a tradie and has some ideas he would like to try for that. Re: It's Colour Consultation Day Tommorrow: Yay! 8Feb 02, 2016 11:26 am Feeling much better now. We went to another branch of the tiling firm that we had our consultation in and the girl in there was absolutly amazing. As well as a huge range of tiles on display they had all the laminex and essastone samples so we spent an hour with her and changed pretty much everything inside. I was able to go to my meeting with the colour consultant this morning with a list of what we want changed and now I'm feeling much less stressed. 4 6834 you need to understand the breakdown of warranties. 90 warranty is considered as minor defects rectification period where as the longer ones are more major/structural… 1 5351 Yes you are correct, unless there are outside works which form part of the contract such as landscaping or driveways, and importantly, the work delayed is on the critical… 1 3535 |
