We have a front timber post on our facade as below, our drawings say it is 125 x 125 size post. I am wondering whether this is the right size as I don't want it looking not substantial enough. I would be taking a guess but the example in the image supplied would be at least 200mm square, could even be more (I have used the bricks behind as a guide... standard brick length is 230mm, post looks similar width give or take a bit of distance between post and wall). You want this to be a feature and not look like a small dingy post holding up the portico. Good luck Re: What size do you think this exterior timber post is? 5Jan 19, 2016 6:38 pm 125x125 would be very thin. Ours was 160x160 and felt that was to small so we upgraded to 190x190. I have also made sure they will do a t-bone bottom so it looks neater. If you want an idea of 125x125, just draw the square on a piece of paper and you will see how small that is. ~Shellby~ GJ Bridgewater 203 11/3/2016 - Site Work Started 29/9/2016 - Handover 142 Work Days 6 Work Days Over https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=80174 Re: What size do you think this exterior timber post is? 6Mar 30, 2016 12:19 pm shellby 125x125 would be very thin. I don't like the look of the metal post showing at the bottom of the timber but don't know what other options there are. Thanks Re: What size do you think this exterior timber post is? 7Mar 30, 2016 8:19 pm Our posts near the entrance of our new build are 190x190 and we are very happy with them. They look quite thick but we love the look.
