Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 18, 2008 2:26 pm We have brick above our front garage doors as standard and have upgraded to brick above all doors and windows. Of course I forgot about above the rear garage roller door. It's a single 2410mm wide.
I'll have to add this. Any one have any idea of a ballpark figure to change it from fibre cement lined timber lintel to brick? Thanks, Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I have already contacted the builder and told them I want a price for it. But as it is something I have no idea about costing for, I was asking for a ballpark figure so that I can either accept or question what the builder comes back with. I researched the costing of most things so I can understand the prices I get. I can't find the answer here so I asked. Is that ok Al? Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. 'Well gee Peg, here's a thought, a bit out of left field but here goes anyway. Contact the builder and ask them.' Anyway I reckon around $800-$1000. I'm only going by the cost of lintels over a whole house which was given to me at $3500. All it really is is a 2.8m piece of galvanized equal angle and some brick - big deal. Jo If you have already had other windows and doors priced then wouldn't looking back over those costs give you a reasonable idea of what the cost may come in at? My professional opinion is it will cost $300.00 plus GST Re: Brick above garage door. 9Jul 19, 2008 11:33 am Yeah I looked over those prices Al, but my understanding is that this is different as above the windows there something to support the weight where as this is more sort of open. Not sure.
I have some vague memory of $2000 for a double opening but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of something else. I'll be happy if it is the same as the windows. That's about $100 a metre so just over $400 would be good. Just wanted to be prepared if it's more or alternatively to question if it's more. I'm a bit more prepared than Peg!
