Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 26, 2015 12:15 pm Has anyone got a split level house? Has anyone renovated a split level house? I need some help on an question that has come up with our builder. We have created a split level house to take advantage of the hill we live on. We have extended our house with a couple of steps going up from the front part of the house (old part) to the new part of the house (renovation addition). I was under the house and noticed all the insulation sticking out of the house from the lower section of the wall (one wall being lower then the other). No panelling/boards are there to hold the insulation within the wall. Our builder has said that he's not going to put any boards up here - that it is perfectly fine for this section of the wall to be exposed/unfinished like this. Agreement? Disagreement? The internal walls where the split in floor level occurs is only lined with plasterboard one side (the visible side). The insulation is held in place on the other side with string/fishing line. Re: Split Level houses 4Nov 26, 2015 9:40 pm Beetaloo - and are you OK with that? Is there a reason behind why this is ok? Surely rodents are going to come and live in the exposed insulation and bugs will get into my house etc? Doesn't it compromise my insulation as well? I don't have a photo.. Vermin stay away from that particular wall as is it open on one side. Vermin (including termites) prefer fully enclosed spaces such as in cavity walls and the space between my under floor insulation and the suspended floor.
