Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Nov 21, 2015 9:51 am Hi, I have a Ryobi RLY 5030 electric and the line both doesn't last that long or it breaks easily. It is 1.5mm and I was wondering if I went to 2.mm it would be better. They come as a filled double line unit about $10 butI the line looks really cheap.. Any ideas? Thanks oz Re: Help with Edge Trimmer (Whipper) 2Nov 21, 2015 10:35 am You can probably wind new normal line onto it, rather than buying overpriced pre-wound modules. I had a bosch electric line trimmer, and it was pretty much useless as the line would break in no time at all, even when replacing it with a better line. The problem was partly just that it was a poor cable exit design, and also that the motor just span too fast. I tried a motor speed controller on it to slow it down, and that made it much better. I wondered if maybe it was designed for European 220V, and at 240V they were just too fast for the line to survive. Re: Help with Edge Trimmer (Whipper) 3Nov 21, 2015 11:24 am Yes thanks. I will try this afternoon to if I can do it myself with a stronger line. Yes your maybe right about the voltage on your one. These stupid little problems are enough to drive you batty at times and are so time consuming trying to resolve them Thanks again Hi All, We are building in Maitland and considering between Vision Homes or New Edge Homes (part of Masterton).
