This means it would cut into the side of the existing ground floor of our house ( which is on piers) Is this a nightmare and should we avoid it? But if you have brick piers in lieu of concrete stumps that is not so difficult at all. Help us to understand what you mean by 'piers'... Not impossible to work around but can be tricky to get right. and tying the new part into the existing without it looking tacked on.
