My question is- is this classed as 'asbestos to external walls of house' because it is on the exterior of the frame, or is this wishful thinking? He said it is going to add an extra 3 days of work on because they have to manually remove the bricks then the sheeting rather than just smashing the whole thing in. I would have assumed it was to be expected in a house of this age. He did say the bricks and roof tiles are in such good condition, that it fooled him. I don't know what to do. Additional costs will be into the thousands. I don't want to look like an idiot but I really thought this quote covered off on sheeting to the house around the perimeter. It would have been a bit obvious after doing a bit of poking around especially around the windows at the preliminary inspection stage. Do you think these sheets are covered by the highlighted line or would you not classify it as external? Just got the quote to remove the bricks and the extras asbestos- another $9000 on top of the $17,000 already quoted for the job M Y C U S T O M C O R A L B R O N T E 43 ...............Kitchen! 16 Nov 2016 https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79581 Re: Demolition and unexpected asbestos 7Oct 15, 2015 3:41 pm So the supposed laborious task of taking off bricks was quick. Started at 7.30 this morning and had one wall down in 30 seconds (filmed by the neighbour). Got a text from the neighbour at 10.30 to say 3 full walls were down. The last wall is closer to the side boundary so may have taken more work. Not sure if they have started on the fibro. Will find out at 5.30 but not seeing my 9k! I know the asbestos removal and dumping would likely be 3-4k as that's what others have quoted. I still argue that the initial quote presented as including it whether that was his intention or not.
