Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 13, 2015 2:17 pm Hi, we are looking at building a double story and there are a few designs that we like however we just cannot afford to add the extra for balconies on those houses. If you have a balcony coming off bedroom or upstairs living, do you use it?? Or is it a case of something you 'thought' you would use but you just don't? Re: Balconies, do you use yours? 2Oct 13, 2015 9:58 pm Hey kylz4 We have 2 balconies in our current house, both leading of from bedrooms... The most use they get is the door being open when it gets to warm! With a nice facade you won't miss the balcony "Never regret anything because at one time it was exactly what you wanted" Re: Balconies, do you use yours? 3Oct 13, 2015 11:28 pm Thanks MissVictoria Good to know if they are just good in theory or practice lol Re: Balconies, do you use yours? 4Oct 14, 2015 6:43 am We don't have one - BUT - if I had a 2 level house I would. I think they just add value. Only reason not to would be to save money. I love the "look" of them too. If you ever go to sell people will love them - just for the "idea" alone. Look down the track - not just tomorrow. Unless cash is VERY tight. Just my opinion Re: Balconies, do you use yours? 5Oct 14, 2015 7:52 am My house has a large balcony running the full width of the house and I use the balcony a lot. Note it is on the rear of the house so it overlooks my backyard. I have installed lattice screens on the sides of the balcony so I can't see into my neighbours balconies and visa versa. Re: Balconies, do you use yours? 6Oct 18, 2015 1:47 am I 'use' ours every time I visit our build (not finished building)! Love standing out there and taking a peek down the street and over to the hills Re: Balconies, do you use yours? 8Oct 19, 2015 10:52 am Our upstairs balcony overlooks the bush across the road. We wanted the "look" of the façade, didn't like any of the ones that didn't have balconies but not necessarily because of the balcony. Opening the door to let the breeze in is good. My wife uses it as her "smoking balcony" too. We had visions of having a morning coffee out there but haven't done that yet. Re: Balconies, do you use yours? 9Oct 21, 2015 4:21 pm you should have enough space for that moreover a great view too. Balcony will let cool breeze in, which will help whenever its warm inside. Above all it will give your building a rich look. You can also get a garden look for yourself from the balcony. Plasterboard Gyprock is very popular as a reveal liner these days. You need to provide a way of supporting it, we use a modified timber reveal or bracket. You will be… 1 4748 That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17871 If what you describe is correct then the brick wall has been dry lined with villa board. That basically means that the villa board is glued to the brick wall with… 3 8310 |
