Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Oct 13, 2015 1:09 am I need to insulate the gaps between the flashing and the roof deck. There is way too much derby blowing into the roof cavity. It is used for storage. I do not want to rule out blowing polyurethane foam onto the transition area but think it will not last more than a decade, perhaps longer if it's painted but even then paint on a hot roof is not ideal. I don't want to have to take the whole flashing off either to jam foam in. There are several pipes to work around. Any suggestions? Just purely on ease of job. I am just doubtful about its longevity. And when it deteriorates will it suck moisture back in past the upturn. Roof is about 7 years old. So in our climate should have easily another 20 years life in it. What's the longest Expanda Foam anyone has discovered exposed to heat and weather? Re: Metal Roof Flashing Insulation 4Oct 15, 2015 9:47 pm A bit more research lead me to this site: https://www.metalroofingonline.com.au/33-foam-strips It just means I have to drill out the apron rivets, insert the foam and screw down the apron again with some PLAIN Roofing Screws 12 x 25 T17. And, have the p;umber help me with pipes that are definitely in the way. It's time consuming to save on energy costs after completion when only a few extra minutes during installation and a material small cost would have helped so much now. I know this post is from a while ago, but the VBA has some good guidance on this. https://www.vba.vic.gov.au/__data/asset ... 5-Roof.pdf 2 10623 Cheers.
