RK7 Re: termites noticed...need some advice urgently 3Oct 10, 2015 6:45 am We use a mob called Termi-mesh who are quite good - not sure if they are in NSW. The baiting you mention is really a check/preventative thing I think - you sound like you need a removal action ? If its what I think it is, they place these stations around the house to see if termites exist - then feed them stuff to take back to nest. BUT - like all things - follow Rule 1 - get 3 quotes ! Re: termites noticed...need some advice urgently 4Oct 10, 2015 8:08 am First thing is to get a termite inspection done. This involves a thorough inspection of the house including inspection of all concealed spaces. This may required drilling or cutting inspection hatches in floors etc. Last time I had this done it cost $1,600. If termites are found, the ground is then chemically treated. This involves drilling a series of holes around the perimeter of the house (where underfloor access is not possible) and pumping in a chemical. After this it is recommended that a follow up inspections be carried out annually or baiting stations installed. However these stations need to be regularly monitored. If termites are found in the baiting stations, these termites are covered in arsenic dust and allowed to return to their nest thus destroying the colony. All this work should be carried out by a licensed termite contractor. Re: termites noticed...need some advice urgently 5Oct 10, 2015 10:54 am Beetaloo First thing is to get a termite inspection done. Re: termites noticed...need some advice urgently 6Oct 10, 2015 2:52 pm Thanks for all the replies…I got another guy to check it out today…he used a moisture meter which sensed activity in that area…I know as i sighted them already...and said he'll do a thorough inspection next week…he's mentioned about bayer product similar to termidor…he said if the problem is not widespread, he can use some sort of foaming type bayer chemical which will spread in timber and works similar to termidor by killing the nest…waiting for inspection now... Hi VK, Think it's worth investing time in an Owner Builder course to equip you with basic knowledge on Australian Building Industry and its regulations. Also, I suggest… 11 23511 Levelling compound Ardit is the best but buy a bag of sand and make sand dam to protect your wood floor 2 15258 XCEM Alpha flooring seems to relatively new and I could not found any reviews.
