Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 29, 2015 11:51 am Trying to work out the best siting of our house on acreage at the moment. There is an existing builders cut that we are trying to maximise, but our house is much bigger. It will need to be either cut in further at one end, or filled at the other (a couple of metres of fall). Which is cheaper? I know fill requires piering, so I am assuming fill is dearer?? Building the Denver by Metricon on acreage Land settlement: 24/8/15 Contracts: 8/7/16 Finance approved: 5/8/16 Council approval.....? viewtopic.php?f=31&t=79213 Re: Which costs more? Cut or fill? 2Oct 01, 2015 3:49 pm We've just been quoted $4000 to cut and fill a 400sqm block with there been enough fill from the cut so none needs to be bought in. And, $6600 to bring in 150sqm of fill (we think they may have meant cubes) and well as $4000 to level it etc Re: Which costs more? Cut or fill? 3Oct 02, 2015 9:31 am Fill is usually cheaper - depending on where you are, how far the excavators have to bring it and the quality of the fill. Generally the fill costs nothing as everyone wants to get rid of it and to dump it costs tip fees etc so all you are up for are the transport costs. Excavation and you are paying for the onsite excavator plus transport costs plus tip fees. The ideal situation is where you cut on one part of your site and use that waste to fill on another. Is that what you are thinking to do or removing the cut waste from your site altogether? Stewie 7 4385 PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you.
