Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 16, 2015 1:36 pm Hi, Just working on what color scheme we are wanting for our front facade. I am hopeless when it comes to color so having a hard time deciding! We're leaning towards grey tones but I am thinking it's too much greys and we need to tone it down. Image A: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Roof tiles is sambuca with momument for gutters and fascias. first floor render is tranquil retreat, feature render is timeless grey (darker) pillar is some grey tiles and bricks is austral graphite for garage and ground floor (which is cat 6 so gonna be expensive!) Do you think this is too much? Image B Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Only change is Roof which is babylon with moument for gutters and fascias. Brick is austral Ash. A much lighter color. Do you think these colors clash? Or any other suggestions? Perhaps the render for first floor could be lighter? Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! You could maybe have a different colour garage door/front door? Maybe timber/timber look? That might warm it up a bit if that's what you want to do.... My blog: tashandpaul.wordpress.com Re: Front facade with grey tones - Help! 3Sep 16, 2015 2:36 pm In the picture, Image B with the lighter garage walls makes the garage look like part of the house, making the house look wider and more cohesive as a unit. This is because it looks like that is the same colour as the upstairs render in the picture. The house then reads as being in that colour, with just the columns and other stuff hanging off in the darker grey. In real life it may come up a bit differently though, as the brick will have a different texture than the render. In comparison, A puts the focus on the house itself as if the garage is an outbuilding. That can be more elegant as the house itself is prettier than the garage. Re: Front facade with grey tones - Help! 4Sep 16, 2015 2:48 pm I would go with a timber garage door and front door to add some warmth and contrast. I prefer image B. Re: Front facade with grey tones - Help! 5Sep 16, 2015 6:51 pm Both look good, though I prefer option B. I think it could become boring though, but you wouldn't need to do much to jazz it up. Maybe a brightly coloured front door, in red, or blue or yellow? Or maybe a wood look garage door? Or maybe change those tiles to something with more texture/colour? Good luck deciding Re: Front facade with grey tones - Help! 6Sep 17, 2015 5:38 am I also prepare b and agree with the comments re timber look garage door and front door. Love your colours. I also want a grey facade so will keep these colours in mind! Funny enough, we originally started off with timber look garage door and while front entry is already stained, its stained in charcoal so will change it back to one of the others and see what it looks like... Would love a bright door but I'm sure our estate discourages too much colors to the front Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! I thought it was just strict heritage areas where that sort of thing went on. Is there something specific in the covenant about that? I thought it was just strict heritage areas where that sort of thing went on. Is there something specific in the covenant about that? I may have misread it LOL Vibrant colors are not preferred but may be used as features as long as they are limited to 25% of the external facade on any face If its only the front door, it should be ok.... Next task is to convince the hubby to try painted color for the doors - usually we prefer a stained door Second Build, this time with Carlisle 2016, can't wait! That would lighten it a bit. A dark roof also attracts a lot of heat into the house. Re: Front facade with grey tones - Help! 12Sep 20, 2015 5:55 pm Can I ask a silly question please.... I love your colours and we have our colour apt on Wednesday and no one has really explained to us how we pick facade colours! Our builder uses Dulux so do we basically just pick paint colours for any rendered or FC areas? And I found the colourbond paint range so I am assuming we pick from this range for colourbond roof/gutters etc?
