Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 15, 2015 4:01 pm Hi, Wondering what you guys did regarding your island bench power point? Was it done under the overhang? Or on the waterfall edge? We are looking at the legrand pop up powerpoint and was wondering if anyone had one of those installed? They come in multiple modules and can accommodate multiple input (power, usb, switches, data, tv , etc) Photos would be most appreciated Re: Powerpoint On Island Bench 2Sep 15, 2015 4:22 pm It makes a difference if there are drawers or cupboards under the benchtop where your power point is located. Drawers are a problem as the electrical conduit may clash with the drawer runners. Re: Powerpoint On Island Bench 3Sep 15, 2015 5:14 pm On my prestart sheet it says 350mm overhang and 850mm drawer depth. Wouldn't that be too deep anyway? Powerpoint On Island Bench 4Sep 15, 2015 6:53 pm We have a GPO on bench end. Works great. It is partially hidden by a small overhang on that end too and it's not the end seen by all and sundry. I query the strength of pop ups and the technology changing if they are using USBs when a lot already use mini USB now.
Re: Powerpoint On Island Bench 8Sep 16, 2015 5:03 pm I saw a pop up power-tower last week in a new build in NZ which costs about $200 + installation. I would definitely go for one, or two, if I build again. (see http://www.anewhouse.com.au/2015/09/power-tower/) The Harder You Try - the Luckier You Get ! If it's for cooking, like chopping vegetables or rolling something in flour, a hole in the bench top is not a good thing, even a very small one. I once made a bench top of small tiles. It was not practical, the joints got dirty and I had to clean it a lot more, than if it was a complete flat surface. In case you use that bench only for having a light snack and you don't have young kids around, than it might be a good idea. Re: Powerpoint On Island Bench 15Sep 23, 2015 7:01 pm To me they look a bit gimmicky although they would of course serve a purpose. We were at an open for inspection about a year ago and a few days later i bumped into the owner. Amongst a few other questions I asked him was what was his experience of using one of these pop-up power towers? He said they were OK but with a few leads running off them to a kitchen whiz and a blender the whole schmick stone benchtop they had was downgraded somewhat.
