Hey all. What documents should I be expecting to receive at handover?
Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Handover documents 2Sep 14, 2015 11:16 pm Warranty cards and instruction manuals for all appliances, garage door, hot water unit etc. keys, copy of builders life time warranty if they provide one, instructions on how their maintenance period works. I can't recall what else! Re: Handover documents 3Sep 15, 2015 9:16 am You should also be given electrical certificates, plumbing certificates, glazing certificate and energy efficiency declaration if they weren't already given to you along with the occupancy certificate. Re: Handover documents 7Sep 15, 2015 9:55 pm Crazyk, unlike in NSW, there is no such thing as a waterproofing certificate in Victoria. It was discussed in another thread on Homeone but anybody can do waterproofing in Victoria and no certificate is issued for it. Re: Handover documents 8Sep 16, 2015 10:47 am Crazyk Yep I'm in Vic. Thanks for the points. I guess I should also get Waterproofing cert Termite protection In WA they put "stickers" in the meter box with date and signature to show when you've had it. And a requirement in your info pack to have waterproofing checked by builder at 12 months or something as the end of their warranty period. And of course recurring termite treatment if you went with chemical treatment. Re: Handover documents 10Oct 19, 2015 7:42 am Apologies if you have - but - set up a drawer - indexed - for all your papers - alphabetical order. Maybe a box for all the warranties - you WILL need them. It is much easier to sit down and do it at the start than try to find them later ... Take notes and keep the folders up to date - ie phone numbers etc. All your other papers can be included - eg Taxation, Electricity, Water, Insurance etc. I find it very useful whenever I need something. It sounds so easy but so many people don't so this. Re: Handover documents 12Oct 19, 2015 11:21 am Crazyk For my build I've done it electronically. Once my build is finished I'll have scanned all documents. Makes searching easy too. Great idea - but I still like the paperwork ... Re: Handover documents 13Sep 13, 2016 5:03 pm Can any one tell me if they have completed their handover on site or at the companies office, I have requested to my builder to do the handover on site to save me taking anymore time of work and they will not accommodate me Re: Handover documents 14Sep 16, 2016 8:52 pm Senior members, please start a new discussion based on international Home purchases. I can refer this page for international home purchases http://www.mortgagesmortgages.ca/mortga ... purchases/ . I think that will be more useful for immigrants.
