Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 14, 2015 2:27 am I am currently building and am considering enclosing the whole alfresco area(4000 x 5200) with sliding doors as highlighted by the red arrow below. The alfresco area will be concreted and tiled. I am hoping to make that area part of the house and possibly another place to dine. 1) Has anyone done something similar before? 2) Anyone foresee any issues? 3) Can this be done easily post handover or should I get the builder to do it? You can get them installed on tracks attached to the existing posts/house and can choose the shade cloth type fabric or clear or tinted plastic stuff. The tracks mean no gaps so it stays warm inside in winter and then just open it all up in summer for a breeze, put one side down if the sun is coming in, all sides down if you want to keep out the flies, etc, etc. So many combinations Re: Sliding doors around alfresco 3Sep 14, 2015 12:06 pm Your sliding doors will have a fixed segment, so you will lose some of the 'open' feel. If you do not have two open sides, then you should not use a conventional BBQ in the alfresco area. You'll need to purchase an indoor use BBQ. I'd go with roller blinds as mentioned before. Also, would that keep rodents out since I would probably keep them close most of the time. Don't really like the idea of rodents having a party around the BBQ area at night... =) Re: Sliding doors around alfresco 5Sep 14, 2015 12:20 pm andre b Your sliding doors will have a fixed segment, so you will lose some of the 'open' feel. Not sure what you mean by indoor use BBQ. In the future, we will most probably have an outdoor kitchen/BBQ area with a rangehood. Re: Sliding doors around alfresco 7Sep 15, 2015 12:32 am Bjhf That does look good. However, would it be a bit troublesome to keep lifting it up and down to get in and out of the alfresco to the yard?
