Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 10, 2015 9:57 am Hi everyone! ☺ We are about to build with a private builder and im having problems picking colours for the facade. I will post a 3d of my house below. I'm thinking about a: colorbond dune roof and gutters colorbond colour jasper for the render Surfismt for facias and eaves Also thinking about a suitable stacker stone for 2 front pillars and wood windows, door, decking under portico, wood-look garage and wood for under the portico roof. Do you think its too much wood? And would these colours work? Im struggling and would love opinions please or even pics of these colours. Thanks heaps! The jasper is quite rich and dark though, so I'd hesitate to render the whole front in that colour. With the jasper and then wood detailing, I'd be worried it all might just look dark, without too much definition and contrast. Lots of dark brown also reminds me a bit of colour schemes from the 1970s that might not be ready to come back out again yet. I'm thinking maybe run the surfmist colour on the garage, to give a background for the jasper to work against. That may still work with the timber-look garage door. The architect did it up for us. I wish he could do the colour scheming too haha Re: Having problems picking colours for exterior 5Sep 12, 2015 6:28 am oneJohn I think the jasper and dune would work fine together. Hi oneJohn, Thank you for your opinion. That's exactly what im worried about! I do want the whole front rendered (minus the 2 front pillars which will be stacker stone), so maybe i should pick a different colour that's a bit lighter. Any ideas on what could look nice? Re: Having problems picking colours for exterior 7Sep 12, 2015 11:51 am I'd say that rendered picture is representing something close to you colours, ie Jasper render with dune roof, and the garage door surfmist. In terms of differences, things to watch are that the lighting is quite contrived to make it look good rather than accurate. It's not that often that you look at a house at dusk with 15 different lights shining on the facade, with the curtains open and all the lights on inside. But that's how a lot of promotional images are done. So here the windows and lights are giving the lightening effect against the jasper. In terms of your question earlier about the wood, you need to also consider the gable end of the rear roof section. The 3d render suggests it's the same material as the top of the portico. You'll want it to be a long-lasting and low maintenance material though, so it probably won't be a timber look. I am going to get a visualisation done. I think it's the only way for me as I'm just struggling to picture it all. traditional gable roof facade - Have you did the dark and light gray color combination in facade with gray stone in facade… 0 4141 Hi all, I am currently building through Simmonds and stuck deciding on my exterior cement roof titles and brick colours.
