Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Sep 02, 2015 12:27 pm Im having a hard time picking external colours for house. My partner is pretty set on monument for colourbond roof. After some suggestions for colour schemes, we both like brown bricks but I'm worried they may be too dark with monument (we don't want light brown). Any monument pics of houses with brown bricks would be awesome!
This is the display home We like these colour bricks Labassa We have these on our list to check out too (mocha) Front door maybe this design Re: Need help with exterior colours - Monument 2Sep 02, 2015 12:50 pm Can't help you with brown bricks but I've got a monument roof with dark bricks. Pics in my thread (search for "triplets"). Re: Need help with exterior colours - Monument 3Sep 02, 2015 2:38 pm Thanks Matt, your house is very impressive! I'm wondering if this goes- Bricks: Labassa or mocha Roof: Monument Fascia: White Verandah poles: White Front door: ? Garage: ? I'm thinking we are going to have to pick a lighter colour than monument with the bricks we use. I don't mind woodland grey, just need to stalk some houses to see it in the light. I think this is the look I'm after (this is woodland grey roof) but I'm not sure what colour to do window frames, front door and garage. Any suggestions? Re: Need help with exterior colours - Monument/woodland grey 9Sep 04, 2015 9:12 pm Question: Match the roof to garage or match garage to window frames? Leaning towards woodland grey or wallaby for roof and surfmist for window frames and front door. Re: Need help with exterior colours - Monument/woodland grey 10Sep 05, 2015 7:39 am Given there isn't such a strong contrast between the roof and brick, I'd look at matching the garage to the windows, front door, verandah posts, mortar and facia. Then have the roof and gutter together in the grey. Re: Need help with exterior colours - Woodland grey/Wallaby/ 11Sep 07, 2015 12:34 pm Ok so now we are thinking maybe we go for Glenfern bricks and Wallaby or Basalt roof. My partner wants the garage door to match roof and me to consider the window frames in the roof colour too. Please tell me what you think! Surfmist is more an off white colour isn't it? So this is what we are leaning towards... Roof: Wallaby or Basalt Gutter: Wallaby or Basalt Fascia: Surfmist Windows: Surfmist Verandah poles: Surfmist Garage: Wallaby or Basalt Front door: I'd like Surfmist but not sure Here's a mockup preview on boral brick site. Obviously couldn't get exact colours of roof and window/fascia. http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv34/beckles5000/Glenfern%20boral_zps5w8kavjg.jpg Re: Need help with exterior colours - Wallaby/Basalt? 12Sep 07, 2015 4:43 pm Here's a really amateur go of me putting colours together. I just can't commit to anything until I know I'm 100% happy. Not sure on door colour either. These pics actually make the colour of the bricks look heaps lighter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We are going for a look that doesn't look 'old' in a few years time. 1. http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv34/beckles5000/House%20colours_zps1f3uxvcu.jpg 2. http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv34/beckles5000/House%20colours%202_zpsb0phtw9j.jpg 3. http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv34/beckles5000/House%20colours%203_zpsijs45jmo.jpg 4. http://i667.photobucket.com/albums/vv34/beckles5000/House%20colours%204_zpspbpzhnti.jpg Re: Need help with exterior colours - Wallaby/Basalt? 13Sep 07, 2015 10:19 pm Thought I'd tweak the model for our house a bit and try matching your colours. That gives this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I've changed my mind from what I thought before, and based on having the white posts and the wide frontage of your design, I could be favouring the look of the dark garage door and windows. I think I'd stick to white for the front door though, so it doesn't feel too dark. From a practical point of view, if the front is east or west facing, dark doors absorb a lot of heat. This can give problems with front doors warping, and dark garage doors get quite hot in the sun. It had a brown tinge to it. We'd like a grey look more than anything so is Basalt the next best colour to go for? Does it have blue tinges? I want grey! Re: Need help with exterior colours - Wallaby/Basalt? 17Sep 21, 2015 11:02 am Wallaby does have a little bit of brown to it. With RGB of 127,124,120, the red is 7 counts above the blue so you could expect slightly warm. Basalt is quite grey, with just a slight bias to blue. The other option would be windspray, which is also very slightly green/blue. It comes down a bit to what colours you put next to them though. Our vision tries to automatically compensate for the lighting colour, so it can get tricked by the other colours that are around.
