Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 17, 2015 12:58 am Hi guys, Im first time building house in Australia and not familiar with the techniques they use to build the house. In the plan, it said the house will be built on the "strip footing with base brick construction". does that mean they will plant many of the concrete pillars to lift the house up (my block is on the slope) and place a concrete slab on top of the strip footing? Regards, Thanks Re: Strip footing and base brick construction 2Aug 17, 2015 8:07 am chuminh Hi guys, Im first time building house in Australia and not familiar with the techniques they use to build the house. As we laid tiles on our ground floor. could they do it with timber floor like you said. is that Australian standards. Thanks for your inputs Re: Strip footing and base brick construction 5Aug 17, 2015 5:09 pm Abztronic It will be like my build. I have some pictures on my thread if you want some visual assistance. did you take the real pictures of your builidng while it was being built? Re: Strip footing and base brick construction 6Aug 17, 2015 8:28 pm Well if you flick through the pictures in my thread. You will see that I have taken pictures of the strip footings and the base brickwork for the subfloor is where my build is up to at the moment. The floor has not being put in yet. Re: Strip footing and base brick construction 7Aug 17, 2015 11:10 pm And to Answer your question from before, The tiles go on top of the timber floor which will be on top of the elevated pillars. Most builders won't raise concrete off the ground like that. Its wayy too expensive and impractical for a house. Re: Strip footing and base brick construction 9Sep 04, 2015 11:53 am Mine will be the same I think, but a concrete slab slab still on top. We have strip footing with subfloor brickwork and a concrete slab instead of timber/ particle board. I noticed you were asking about Bondek on another thread. We were going to use that also but changed to a different method called Ultrafloor. Ask them to price both up for comparison. I agree with most of what you first wrote. Most project builders won't consider it and it is expensive. It just looks more common to you because there is a few of us on here Build thread: viewtopic.php?f=38&t=75302 Versaloc is a mortarless besser block system that still needs a properly engineered footing. If you just do a 400x200 footing it will fail in time. At 17m long you need it… 1 3379 yep sounds good make the footing bigger to to allow for the pipe in the middle 3 5286 PM me your email. I have a build excavation calculator you can use based on your plans to double check what your builder is telling you. Cheers Simeon 1 8016 |
