Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 16, 2015 8:45 am I'm currently looking around at houses and I found one that I'm interested in buying. Now I was just talking to someone and they were saying with the design of the roof you would have to lift the whole roof todo any repairs or to even install a new fan. I'm not sure how true this is but if I could get any information or guidance on roofs would be great! The roof is pretty low set with a slight slant. The house is in North Queensland and built about 40 years ago if that helps anyone to picture what they look like. Chees in advance Re: Roof and roofs designs 2Aug 16, 2015 9:40 am Hi ArronJ Photos always help, but Low pitched roofs always require a bit more attention to planning and consideration given to: 1. Design 2. Engineering 3. Accessibility for maintenance and services 4. Waterproofing & flashings etc.etc. It would be wise to have it properly checked When considering low pitch roofs for a new house, prefabricated trusses and space frames are very efficient and effective. I have noticed that its too low for my liking and too late to change now as the frame is up. I am having a Trinity Facade to it which has a blade wall and a brick pier on the garage door. My colour scheme is as follows Roof- Prestige Slate Grey Broick- Metallix Titanium Gutter- Monument Window Frames- Monument Downpipe Monument Facia- windspray white Garage Door- Teak (wood Look) Any suggestions on how to make the pitch look too flat. Im really sad about this at the moment Re: Roof and roofs designs 4Sep 16, 2015 7:55 pm ArronJ, you don't have to lift the whole roof - maybe one sheet if you wanted to install another light or fan in the ceiling for instance. If you had to run another circuit then that would be maybe a bit more of a problem. Sparkies are pretty good at getting wiring from A to B without having to dismantle half your house.
