Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 09, 2015 10:14 pm I might sound naive. But I would like to ask this silly question anyway We are buying a parcel of land registration is due relatively soon ~4month. We inspected the land ourselves (it is Schofields): there are a "green" box of electricity and 2 pipes of water: seemingly one for our lot and one for the neighbours. Both pipes are sealed by Sydney Water. I always thought that there should be another pair of pipes for gas, but to my surprise there were none We drove through other estates nearby and everywhere we saw just 1 "green box" and 2 water pipes -- nothing else. I think that my suspicions are groundless and are based only my innocent and total ignorance of how a new house is usually connected to the natural gas. May be it is usually this way: http://building-our-first-house.blogspo ... d-new.html ? If it so how can I check that under the road there is a "main" gas tube to which our property could be connected? (Or may be in newly developed estates it is not possible that there will be no gas?) Thank you. Sorry for my ignorance in this matter Building Casaview Denison 30 https://fortdenison.wordpress.com/about Re: Buying land, worrying about gas connectivity 2Aug 10, 2015 7:56 am Contact your local gas supplier, they should be able to tell you. Thank you guys, will call them. But am I right that for each house connection is actually achieved by drilling to main pipe? And never there could be pipes with valves protruding from the earth on the new lots? I'm guessing is because they do a straight run from the kerb to where the meter will be and they don't know that until you build.
