Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 08, 2015 9:11 am Just looking through the local councils website to see what I could see on the development we have bought into (my expert sleuthing even managed to work out what house number we will be when all the blocks are still under their lot numbers), and a couple of the blocks close to ours have submissions to council to 'reconfigure' their lots. What exactly does that mean? Settlement was only last week so I would have thought if they were submitting house plans the wording would have been more in line with 'permission to erect a dwelling'. Re: What Does "Reconfiguring A Lot' Mean? 2Aug 08, 2015 11:33 am Could be as simple as applying for exemptions on setbacks.. . . . but as major as going for dual occupancy or splinting the lot. For an example see: http://www.anewhouse.com.au/2012/07/battleaxe-block/ Thank you for that. We spoke to one of the owners of one of the blocks listed as wanting to reconfigure and I remember him telling us his builder and what design hes going for. I looked it up and the garage is on the wrong side so now I'm thinking thats probably what hes appling for, to keep it on that side (unlike us who will have to flip our house from the middle so our garage is at zero boundary as required but we keep our alfresco where we want it). A lot reconfig is an re drawing of the boundaries, typically an amalgamation of multiple lots into fewer lots, but more commonly of a larger lot split up into a number of smaller lots. On a suburban block, your neighbours are splitting their parcel of land into 2 blocks most likely. you'll end up living next to two houses there, not just one.. His block is the same size as ours, only 398sqm so theres no way he could get two dwellings on it. We've also spoken to him and he told us who hes building through and which house design hes choosen. I shall just have to wait and see. I don't mind what he does, hes a couple of blocks over, just wondered what reconfiguring meant. It does conjure up images of moving things doesn't it.
