Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 05, 2015 11:36 pm Hi all, We have been in our Porter Davis home for nearly 12 months and at each inspection / maintenance I have mentioned about our hot water not being hot enough in the showers. We have solar and gas hot water. I understand that there are tempering valves now in place on new homes to prevent burns to children in bathrooms. That is great as I have a toddler with another on the way. However, even in her bath, with the hot water tap on only and no cold water, the bath is just warm enough and she can't have a long bath as it goes cold quickly. Our shower water temp is mild to say the least - I love a hot shower especially in winter - and this barely even creates any steam on the mirror with just the hot water on. The kitchen and laundry taps basically give you third degree burns as soon as you turn them on. Is this a plumbing issue or should I get our builder back to take a look and make an adjustment given I have repeatedly asked about this issue. Thanks Re: Tempering Valves - Water too cold! 3Aug 06, 2015 10:09 am If you can, get your plumber to locate the tempering valve. Remove the plastic cap and use a spanner to turn the adjuster as far as possible in the direction of the hot arrow. Apparently they are adjustable to outlet temperature between 30 to 50 C. When adjusted to maximum turn, that is it. The other suggestion above is to make sure your temperature selection at your hot water service is turned up to the maximum. You can ask your plumber about that too. Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)? If the sun hits a window directly it doesn't matter too much if it's double or single… 1 10085 Hi guys, I want to butt a concrete vegetable garden bed against a concrete build up of a carport.
