Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Aug 04, 2015 12:32 am Hi guys, we are currently building in the western suburbs of Adelaide. Before the build started we had a shed built at the back of the block. We are roughly a month away from handover and I had been doing some work at the house and in the shed over the weekend. I left some tools and bits and pieces to be installed, in the shed. It was broken into overnight and a few thousand dollars worth of tools and lights, fans etc were stolen. Does anyone know if there is a chance the contents insurance at the house we are in currently will cover the tools? Thanks - Hallman Re: Shed break-in 2Aug 04, 2015 9:05 am You will probably find that you will only have cover if the contents insurance at the other house is a type of cover called 'accidental damage'. This is a more comprehensive cover which covers things when you take them away from the house. Most contents cover is called 'listed events', which is the cheaper type, and only covers things if stolen from the site. I also advise others to have photos/itemised on what is in the shed... unfortunately it's all too common on building sites Designer,Engineer (Civil,Const & Envir),Builder,Concrete & Masonry Contract.Struct Repairs Re: Shed break-in 4Aug 04, 2015 11:44 am Unfortunately not StructuralBIMGuy. From what I understand we were unable to get insurance on the site while construction is underway, I could be mistaken though. Luckily I had taken a photo of the inside of the shed a couple days earlier and could identify most items for the police report! Thanks for that TashPaul, we'll get in touch with the insurance company to see what level we had, not going to hold our breaths though! Thanks for your replies.
