Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jul 26, 2015 11:19 pm Hmmm... Went out to our block this afternoon and I was furious!! The neighbours have started to build and have used our block to pile all their dirt onto. I'm sure this is not acceptable by any means. At the very least I would have thought it be common courtesy to bloody ASK!! You can see my daughters hand held up in the location of the front peg. Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 2Jul 27, 2015 10:33 am I wouldn't be too worried to be honest. Looks like they will push most of it back to cover up the drainage. Doesn't look like they are done yet, it will disappear eventually I imagine. Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 3Jul 27, 2015 11:11 am I wouldn't be happy either, however I know that when my parents put up retaining walls along their side fence, they did dump a heap of dirt on their neighbour's block without asking, as there was no one around to ask. However, it was gone a few weeks later when the wall was finished. You will probably find that this is what will happen here - if not gone in a few weeks then I would be calling the builder and finding out when it will be moved. Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 5Jul 27, 2015 1:57 pm The dirt itself doesnt worry me. Its more the fact that they done it without asking. It's rude and disrespectful. Have confronted the builder who pinned the blame on the plumber. Will be removed by this afternoon. And from what i understand, it wont be used to cover the plumbing as that will be concreted. I took fotos of the truck and a few more shots just incase they come pointing fingers at us, unfortunately my fon died and I seem not to be able to get anything from it , so my evidence is also gone - Build thread- My Allegra- Dream by Henley Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 8Jul 28, 2015 11:05 am Same thing happened with our block but they also surrounded it with temp fencing without asking! I was irritated also and called the builder advising that we're building soon amd they'll need to remove it the moment we say so. They were quite accommodating and from what I see around the neighborhood it seems common practice. At the end of the day it doesnt affect us bar the lack of courtesy so decided why make waves. Plenty of real things to get stressed about during the building process Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 9Jul 28, 2015 11:05 am We have some nice types dumping rubble filled soil and rock on all the blocks in my street I threw up a hasty star picket and wire fence that combined with the star pickets smashed in as tyre spikes seem to have put a stop to it all , on our block anyway . I wouldn't be overly concerned about the soil on your block mate apart from the fact they didn't approach you to ask permission , if they don't clean up and leave any there though I'd be making a pretty big fuss . At least you have it documented . Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 10Jul 28, 2015 11:10 am Yeah as I mentioned, I'm not too fussed on the actual dirt. More annoyed with the total lack of common courtesy and respect. If my home was already built they wouldn't have done it so why do it at all Cheers, Paul (& Lisa) Parkhill 36 by ClarendonHomes in Coomera Retreat H1 Build Thread And Blog Building Blogs List - Go Ahead And Add Yours!! Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 11Jul 28, 2015 1:08 pm One of the guys at work had the same problem when he was building. ... he phoned up that builder and asked them to remove because it like trespassing and when your builder starts you will end up paying for the extra removal. Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 12Jul 29, 2015 1:29 pm My builders have put a bunch of dirt on my neighbours block but will be moved in a few days. I wouldn't stress, my other neighbours used mine for the same. As long as it doesn't affect your build. My builders have done it to my neighbours and my other neighbours did it to me. As long as it is cleaned i dont see the harm. Not saying it's right to go ahead and do it without permission just that it happens all the time. Re: Neighbours Using My Block For Fill 16Jul 29, 2015 10:52 pm Its a pretty simple task to look up the owner details of a block of land. Or go ask the developers. Blocks got a SOLD sign on it so the developers would have our details on hand. Doesn't really matter how. Its just the principle. If my home was already built there is no way they would have done that so why do it at all.
