Mine now climb onto the bench to get food out of the cupboard I try to explain about the hygiene of standing on a food preparation surface, but to no avail....I suppose it is good that they are independant.....I can't wait till we have a pantry. 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Fridge Space 43Jul 14, 2008 3:47 pm Thats what I was thinking Paula, I would be happy to have the door poking out a few cms but this cannot be done due to the plaster wall on one side of our fridge...
I think I am just going to leave it at 1m and I figure if I can't open the doors properly I'll just get another fridge In our current set-up we have a bit under 40mm to the side where the door opens onto and I can open the doors a fair bit over 90 degrees, on the new fridge we will have 43.5mm on both sides and I **think** it should be ok. My karma ran over your dogma Re: Fridge Space 44Jul 14, 2008 7:36 pm Matt, How much space is there to each side. I suspect you can't win. You've got flush doors, but probably 112 mm per side. Paula has only a small gap to each side, but the doors stick out. On the surface the dimensions were ok, and it would have fitted. Problem is, one of the walls next to the fridge would have meant that the freezer door wouldn't open any more than 90 degrees - not ideal, so we gave it a miss. Now looking at a different fridge..... Hmmm. Should draw it up and put it on the blog. Re: Fridge Space 46Jul 15, 2008 3:03 pm I'd love to see it on your blog Perry - especially given we have the same house/fridge space.
I don't know if I'd min only being able to open the freezer 90 degrees, I'm sure thats how far I only ever our current fridge/freezer...I better pay attention this week and see how far I do open it... Thanks for your input My karma ran over your dogma Re: Fridge Space 47Jul 15, 2008 11:25 pm Here are some extra pics!
This is front on: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ As you can see the space around the edges is not as 'dramatic' as you might think. This is the water inlet tap: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This is located on the bottom right hand side of the fridge. The tap is important as we needed to change our filter this week and you need to turn the tap off first! This is looking from the kitchen out into the living area. If I got bored with the gap (which I wont) I thought about putting a wine rack down one side and across the top but then I would have to pull the fridge out too use the doors... Catch 22! I'd only build the wine rack if the wine was cheap - the heat generated by a fridge will ruin the wine. After 4 years - we're in! Matt I never turned my water off....lucky I didnt flood something I miss my fridge... Paula I had a similar issue with my fridge not too long ago. It wasn't the same model, but the symptoms were pretty much the same: the compressor would start and then stop… 3 7522 You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want.
