Better get that rumpus room built so we can get it in Paula Re: Fridge Space 26Jul 13, 2008 9:10 pm Awesome, that is exactly the look I am after. If Matt says it is only 700mm deep including the doors, I might ask to have the fridge cavity about 900mm deep so it doesn't cut off too much under stair storage and then I can have it sitting flush with the cupboards.
Atleast it gives me plenty of options! So excited to finally get my DREAM fridge! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Fridge Space 27Jul 13, 2008 9:44 pm Remember, if you move the fridge back to sit flush with the cupboards, then the cavity width has to be increased to allow the doors to open. Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Fridge Space 28Jul 14, 2008 9:03 am That is what I was thinking too Casa...
Oh no I just had a thought! I will have to increase our fridge width after all, 1.1m probably. We have a wall on either side of our fridge, while one side is ok and the fridge doors could sit in front of them to open, the other side is far too long and we can't cut it back, so therefore the freezer side of the fridge couldn't open if the opening is 1m as the wall would be in the way... Looks like it is going to have to be a 1.1m cabinet width after all....this will allow me to open the doors if their is a wall alongside the door with the ice/water machine in it, right? Here is a link to the plan to show you what I mean about the longer wall on one side, the fridge space is the thing oppisette the end of the island bench with the cross on it, the other space next to the pantry is underbench and overhead cupboards, http://www.porterdavis.com.au/content/H ... orne41.pdf My karma ran over your dogma Re: Fridge Space 29Jul 14, 2008 9:34 am Re: Fridge Space 30Jul 14, 2008 9:48 am Oooo i like how that looks Matt, our fridge depth is standard at 650mm, so I would have to ask to increase that, I was thinking about 750mm-800mm because I need the tap put behind too and was thinking it might take up some space.
So the 1.1m will be no good? Ok I better make it the magic number 1135 My karma ran over your dogma Re: Fridge Space 31Jul 14, 2008 9:52 am We had the tap installed off to the side as well!
We put it in the bottom right corner and the power in the top right corner. No need for extra depth then too... Re: Fridge Space 34Jul 14, 2008 2:37 pm Just had ANOTHER thought on this...who would have thought a fridge space would cause so much trouble
Anyway I would ideally like to keep the fridge space to 1m width as I dont want to cut off alot of space from the cupboards in between the WIP and fridge space. I was thinking about what Casa and Matt said about the doors not being able to open properly if I have the fridge sitting flush in the cabinets...as we wil have to have the fridge installed flush in the cabinets this has thrown me a bit. The fridges I am looking at on Samsungs site say they are 913mm wide and need to have 100mm clearance on each side to open the doors to 130 degrees...now just playing around with our current fridge, we only ever open the doors to 90 degrees, I just had a look how much width this adds to the fridge when we open the doors and it wasn't much at all.... What I'm wondering if if our fridge space was 1m wide and we had a 913mm fridge installed flush to the cabinets, would roughly 40mm clearance on either side still enable us to open the fridge/freezer doors to 90 degrees.... I'm hoping so!! My karma ran over your dogma Re: Fridge Space 35Jul 14, 2008 2:48 pm Bel,
You need to check if you can remove the shelves with the doors only open 90 degrees. Some websites actually give this information, otherwise you will have to check in real life. Can't help with the rest of your query though.
